Pacific oysters are a sink and a potential source of the eelgrass pathogen, Labyrinthula zosterae

چکیده
Oyster aquaculture and seagrasses often co-occur are each vital to the ecological economic value of coastal ecosystems. Global declines in seagrasses, including Zostera marina , have recently been observed association with multiple factors, infection diseases such as seagrass wasting disease (SWD), caused by protist Labyrinthula zosterae . Protection has led restrictions on oyster due perceived negative impacts beds; however, positive may also occur. An important species, Pacific Crassostrea gigas can filter L. from water, potentially reducing pathogen transmission, although oysters vector if they accumulate release live into water. We investigated whether presence decreases lesion severity intensity eelgrass, or acts a via laboratory field experiments. In laboratory, eelgrass were exposed for 24 h kept at 11°C 18°C 13 d. field, ramets deployed without 28 d adjacent known SWD. experiment, significantly decreased intensity, but previously did transmit naïve eelgrass. Temperature not affect ability mitigate SWD; increased temperature severity. Oysters had no effect SWD field. Further research is needed regarding potential quantify when reduce

Impact of the wasting disease pathogen, Labyrinthula zosterae, on the photobiology of eelgrass Zostera marina
Labyrinthula zosterae is clearly shown to be a primary pathogen of eelgrass Zostera marina L., not merely a secondary infection of senescent leaves or an indication of decomposition. The results of this investigation using a Diving-PAM fluorometer indicate that the regions of tissue photosynthetically compromised by Labyrinthula are substantially larger than previously thought. Labyrinthula mov...
متن کاملQuantitative PCR Reveals Strong Spatial and Temporal Variation of the Wasting Disease Pathogen, Labyrinthula zosterae in Northern European Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Beds
Seagrass beds are the foundation species of functionally important coastal ecosystems worldwide. The world's largest losses of the widespread seagrass Zostera marina (eelgrass) have been reported as a consequence of wasting disease, an infection with the endophytic protist Labyrinthula zosterae. During one of the most extended epidemics in the marine realm, ∼90% of East and Western Atlantic eel...

wuthering heights and the concept of marality/a sociological study of the novel
to discuss my point, i have collected quite a number of articles, anthologies, and books about "wuthering heights" applying various ideas and theories to this fantastic story. hence, i have come to believe that gadamer and jauss are rightful when they claim that "the individaul human mind is the center and origin of all meaning," 3 that reading literature is a reader-oriented activity, that it ...
